I am Ellie. I am a photographer, little film creator and editor. I love climbing, adventures, yoga, making yummy veggie food, swimming in the sea, being outside and all things chocolate. Travelling is a huge part of my life and that is what this blog is for; to document all my adventures and so that my family can see what I have been up to. It’s also my way of documenting the simple things in life.
After finishing school in 2012, I moved to Italy to au pair for a lovely little Italian family in the town of Cremona; about an hour outside of Milan. I lived there for about 8 months before returning home to work for a charity for the summer. Then, I moved from London to Plymouth to begin my degree in Film & Photography. After a year and a half of studying, I got itchy feet again and in January 2015, I moved to Bozeman, Montana to study abroad. I ended up staying for 8 months and living on the road for a month while travelling around America with my boyfriend. Now, back in Plymouth for my last year, I am studying and working as a freelance videographer as well as interning. I split my time between London and Plymouth with no plans of where I’ll be living in the next year.
This blog documents my love of travel, homey things and finding adventure in my backyard.
Some questions answered too:
How did you decide on the title of your blog, and what’s it about?
I decided on ‘Pink Mountains’ once I moved to Montana for my study abroad, I had been going under the guise of ‘Life of a Londoner’ and previously ‘A Londoner Abroad’ when I lived in Italy.
Pink mountains was to represent the beautiful colour the mountains turned at sunset and to remind me to always seek adventure and be outside for the sunset! I have decided to keep this name as it reminds me of my time in the mountains even though I don’t live there anymore!
What is it that you love the most about blogging?
I like having it as a document to look back on as well as the process of writing it all down and choosing the best layout and images that fit. I kind of use it like an online journal and don’t worry too much about how it looks!
Can you give 11 random facts about yourself?
11? That’s a lot. But here goes: I always wear a little blue ring everyday, I am allergic to watches, I love cooking, sloths are my spirit animal, I never go anywhere without some kind of camera, Climbing is my favourite sport, I’m obsessed with space travel, I always carry an ’emergency’ clif bar with me for hungry friends/boyfriend, I like to walk everyday, Chocolate orange is my favourite food , and I’m very close to my family.
What is your favorite food? Favorite candy?
Favourite food is probably pasta, cheese or strawberries and favourite candy is any kind of chocolate but especially orange flavoured!
What is an item you cannot live without? (You can have more than 1!)
A camera. I love capturing little moments that make up my everyday be it by photo or film. I guess that is why I like blogging too.
What would you do if you couldn’t use the Internet or TV for a month?
Go outside! This has happened to me a multitude of times before and I’ve always been better for it. When I first moved to Italy (and away from home for the first time) I didn’t have any internet for the first six weeks. It made me really appreciate everything around me and allowed me to take it in slowly and not worry about sharing it online.
What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done?
Probably spontaneously moved abroad. When I was 18, I had a place at uni ready to go, I was meant to confirm after I got my results but instead…..I found a host family, booked a flights and moved to Italy within three weeks of cancelling my place at uni. I then lived there for 8 months! I spoke very little Italian at the time!
What is something you do when you need to take time for yourself?
Candlelit baths. Reading. Walking.
